Is This Where Extinction Started?

And once we started pointing there we could not stop
ourselves pointing everywhere. So not only has Heaven
 shrunk and divided itself, from our pointing at it, but
 everything on earth we have pointed at since, except
 our own species, has shrunk too. Shrunk beyond
 our capacity to measure. Reason is the tool that
 shrinks all it touches, including itself.

    But without reason, we become the mere tools of the alpha-males who invent a Big God in their own exaggerated self-image...

    You are quite right, there are plenty of alpha males (and less powerful alpha females) who when they can create a deity in their own image. The image they create is as false they project themselves to be. I in my smallness would like to have reason that expands understanding, and unites without dividing and cutting others off, which requires modesty (my mission, as it happens... ).
